Actually 14 years ago I sold a brand new set that came with my S400. They sold on eBay for $1k.

You can't be getting acoustic strings for a beautiful guitar such as this which has two humbucking pickups!! At least go down the Monel route.

Never like the feel of them. Tomorrow I’ll take the strings down and unscrew the YP. I hope it’s clean down there…
thanks for the advice

If 100 more people tell me this , I’ll start believing half of it ?

This guy went the Bigbsy route. Also the arm rest for those long Honky Tonk nights.

Speaking of armrest: Chet Atkins specified one on his Super 4000:
18", super resonant, semi-thin; altogether hollow. A slimmed Super 400 the way Chet wanted it near the end of his life. It's its own thing. -Phil

It’s amazing how versatile the 400 could be in the right hands. Any guitar that finds favor with Kenny Burrell, Chet Atkins, Scotty Moore, Eldon Shamblin, and Robben Ford is doing a lot of things right.

Another happy Super 400 player, Larry Coryell. IIRC, forum member Stringswinger had played with him. I saw him and his sons at a Pat Martino concert at the Jazz Bakery in Culver City. RIP.

Hi SN400
Just for curiosity, did you get it from Jerome Casanova in Paris?
-
No, Sir, I did not
