My trusty old black strap is on its last legs. I'm looking at the Levy's MS26GF-BLK ($52) and the PRS suede ($40). I don't see any nicer ones under $100 except the Benedetto, which would be great except for the white logo. There are some nice looking ones on Etsy, but it's hard to tell the quality from the pics. I don't want lettering, decoration, or padding - but I'm OK with light colored stitching if the strap is otherwise really nice. I'd like to stay under $100. I'm sure there are at least a few out there that I'm missing. Advice and input would be greatly appreciated.

I have this Levy's strap and it's served me well for almost 3 years. When it runs it's course I will (hopefully) replace it with the same thing.
3" wide and lightly padded. This is leather lined, but I'm chiming in to tell you I have a Levy strap and it's of good quality.

I have this Levy's triple-layer garment leather and it's very nice and the price isn't bad.

I just discovered that Italia is having a 2 for 1 sale. The website says it ended yesterday, but the order form accepted the discount code. So if you want to take advantage of this, do it now before they update the website. I know several forum members use these. They look very nice, and they're lined with Napa suede. So I ordered a pair (black and wine). Thanks, all!

When my old Levi's ruined its last white shirt w dye bleed I switched to Italia. They were just getting started and were having issues w thickness, they sent me three that were way too thick to fit over a standard strap button. But they finally got it right and they're all I've been using since. I lost one on a gig a few yrs ago which was a teeth grinder but since I had purchased them on one of their frequent bogo sales I was covered.

Methinks you'll be happy.....
ps don't be tempted to enlarge the button holes, they're a bear to get on in the beginning but open up over time

Thanks! I almost always wear black shirts and jackets on gigs, so color bleed hasn’t been a problem for me. They now come with suede lining, which is a major reason I ordered them.

I have an Italia strap that I like a lot. It's not lined, just full thickness leather with the inside rough as is regular leather. It should last me for the rest of my life and still be in great shape.

That would definitely go with blue jeans.

I use strap locks and the leather is thick enough that the old style Schallers do not work very easily with them, but the new style Schallers can accommodate thicker leather amd work fine.Last edited by Cunamara; 04-28-2026 at 06:10 PM.

I think they changed the way they make them. Their current website says this:

As for thickness, Wintermoon describes another change in production:
"They were just getting started and were having issues w thickness, they sent me three that were way too thick to fit over a standard strap button. But they finally got it right and they're all I've been using since."
So I'm hoping that they'll be just right. I'll let everybody know how they are as soon as I get them. The website says that they use express shipping with "2 to 3 business day delivery". I have a gig on Thursday night, so I hope they arrive in time. But these days, I'm not counting on it.

I was going to suggest those. They are very high quality, and the suede is nice to prevent slipping. I have a leather backed one as well.

BTW, the Benedetto strap that I have, although high quality, is not suede lined. Can be a bit slippery.
-
That's the other reason I didn't order one. The Benedetto strap is beautiful, but I don't like grossly visible logos on my straps (or luggage or clothes or anything else).

If you remember, I had a wiring harness issue with my new Bravo 7 when I got it. Benedetto sent me a new harness and I swapped it myself. They did offer to ship it both ways and perform the repair. Benedetto was very responsive to the issue and took very good care of me for my troubles. The strap was part of it. I may very carefully scribe some lines in the leather on the inside of the strap to rough it up a little bit.

Yes, I do, or did when I had slider adjustments (e.g., if using the same strap with different guitars or sitting vs standing, or sometimes just for random changes in what feels comfortable). Changes in the size of the ventrally mounted adipose aerodynamic enhancement device (currently in a good direction, though that was not always the case) also require changes in strap length. Also, sometimes the right length falls somewhere between the notches on the two-piece straps, and it takes all kinds of fiddling and weaving to get the 2-piecers right.

Did you get your straps? I ordered two on April 27 and have not received them yet. I’m in no hurry so have not reached out to them, just curious about your order.
-
They ALWAYS have a 2 for1 sale! Don't ever pay full . Decent straps but beware very thick leather, like doesn't always fit between the guitar and button thick.

I have several and have never had that problem. They’re thicker than some and thinner than others. About like a Moody strap, if you know those.

Thanks! I just looked at their website. That’s a wonderful little company. The business helps support impoverished Lakota families on their reservation in South Dakota, and the bison straps look great. I’ll try one next time.
