I recently bought a PolyTune 3 (Noir Mini) and I really like it. But I'm having one problem. For many gig situations I like to use "Always On" mode. But when I do, it seems like there's no way to tell from the display if it's on "mute" or "open." Once in a while I'll think I'm having a gear problem, and it turns out I accidentally hit the button, or just lost track of whether it's on or off. I can't find anything about it in the online manual. Am I missing something? I would think the display should give a little indication when you hit the button to mute the signal.

I have the Polytune 2 and when I turn it on it mutes the signal every time. But maybe I am missing something… like an “always on” mode…

Maybe "always on" was added to version 3(?). It's a little toggle switch on the side. The tuning meter is always on and active, and the button turns into a mute button to stop your audio signal from passing through.

The manual ( https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon....1CzbpWjWnS.pdf ) calls that the "buffered bypass" mode.

    2.4 True Bypass
Here at TC ELECTRONIC, we have a simple philosophy: When you are using one of
our products, you should hear something great – and if you don’t, you shouldn’t
hear it at all. This is why this pedal sports True Bypass. When it is bypassed, it is
really off and has zero influence on your tone, resulting in optimum clarity and
    zero loss of high end.

POLYTUNE 3 lets you switch between True Bypass and Buffered Bypass modes,
the latter giving you an “always on” option that keeps the tuner in full operation
    – even when your signal is not muted. Tuning made simple and more efficient
    than ever.

Sometimes, it is advisable to switch an effect pedal from True Bypass to Buffered
Bypass mode. For more information, see “6.2 Switching between True Bypass to
    Buffered Bypass

"Always on" is a separate optional function from Buffered. There are now two dip-switches. One switch selects True or Buffered. The 2nd switch is an on off switch for "Always On," *only available when in Buffered mode.*

Yes, that appears to be one of the main differences between versions 2 & 3.....

I've found it to be a GREAT feature for music theater pit work. But it's sometimes risky using it because you sometimes have stretches of not playing, and also periods of total absence of any music at all, and so sometimes you can't remember if you left your signal chain on or muted, because you have no visual indication. A simple led indicator would really help.
