I had been looking for an archtop with P90's for some time; I had my eyes on the Gibson ES225, but I couldn't find a descent one for less than 8K. Then, this beauty fell in my lap, and early 80's Borys B120 Deluxe with P90's. This is a true "Unicorn", I had owned a Borys B120 back in the early 2000's but foolishly sold it in 2005.
I know about Borys guitars, and had conversations with Roger a few times in the past, but had never seen or heard that he made any with P90's, let alone two!
I called Roger to confirm before I purchased it, and he had me text him some pics. He had forgotten all about this guitar, and didn't remember building another one, but told me it is definitely that it is his guitar. The tone is very fat and the acoustic properties of the guitar come through very nicely. The handwritten label with the serial number had fallen off, and I was bummed out about it, till I remembered that Roger signs his tops under also, so I grabbed an endoscope camera I had, and looked for it, and there it was, Roger's signature and serial number handwritten..
Cheers,
Arnie..

I have a question, there's a company here in town that refinishes brass, if I had the tailpiece refinished, would it look weird on this 40 yrs old guitar? Would you do it? Is it worth it?
Thanks,
Arnie...

I would do it. I did a similar thing on my Gibson Super V from 1980 with the brass finger tailpiece. I ended up replacing it with a new finger tailpiece instead of redoing the brass but it looked great afterward.

I wouldn't ,
it suits the P90's look to a T. I'd leave it as is. That guitar just looks so special .

I wouldn't have the TP refinished. I am not someone who particularly likes perfect, smooth, shiny (probably because I am rather weatherbeaten myself and was never perfect, smooth or shiny at any point in my life). Borys guitars have character and I like that about them.

I'd talk to Roger and see if he can make the TP look like the ones he does now. Or have him replace it. Or leave it as is.
I like the older style f's with the... notch? Very cool guitar. You're a lucky so-and-so!

Fat tone, from such a small archtop? I’d go with that.

That's beautiful.
I'd love to take it for a ride over some notes.

Would you replace the Grover Rotomatics too?

Once you do the rug, ya gotta do the drapes too. Personally, I’d leave it as is and love it. It’s all about balance.
