since I was considering talking about my experience with Amplified Nation amps, just before reading this, I have to jump in. Before I do I’ll also mention my Headstrong Lil King S. This Princeton Reverb clone Amp was talked about above and it’s a fantastic amplifier. The difference between the regular Lil King and the “S” which stands for stage is that it has a more powerful transformer, bringing it from 5 W to 20 W and comes with a 12 inch speaker. It’s a gorgeous amp And since they’ll be all kinds of physical labor necessary on that island just to get through the day, not sure if I want to carry anything bigger when the tide comes in. But if I did, here’s my “Amp of choice” I started with a 50 W Amplified Nation overdrive special, an outstanding rock and blues amp and added their steel string singer hundred watt. That is an absolute monster. Infinite headroom essentially with incredibly articulate note separation and a deep EQ set up, which includes not only the typical “jazz versus rock switch, and bright switch on all these dumble clones and the three band EQ sweeps but also high pass filters, both treble and bass with a very nice range you can really get anything you want using all those tools. My Frankenstein Amp is I have them both stacked with an amp splitter, feeding the same cabinet and the SSS is essentially my “clean channel,” And the ODR is the dirty channel going from edge of dirt in in it’s clean channel to amazing deep, overtones and drive adding its cascading overdrive channel. But I really have this amp for a rock players when they play at my club, which doesn’t happen that often because it’s really too small for that So the other part of this rig is a great Fryette PS2 attenuator, which preserves the tone in their sweet spots at living room volume. On the other hand, if I want to send my distress signal as far as possible, the attenuator can even increase the volume of these Amplifiers dimmed. But I don’t think any amount of ear protection would save my hearing. And if I had to decide, would I prefer being saved but deaf or staying on the island forever, I don’t know what the answer would be.
