I like the Eastman out of all of these. No matter what I would buy from a shop with a good return policy just in case.

Thanks all for the recommendations. So far i think my main contender is an Eastman t386 but have alarms for these if they show up under 1k

    1. Yamaha SA1000/2000
    2. Ibanez AS100/AS200

If you're open to dealing with an international order then Seventy-Seven JT exrubatos, Edwards E-SA's, Orvilles, and Grecos might be within your reach and worth your consideration.

Eastman should be highest in quality/price ratio. From my experience they build very good instruments at any price.

I know this is not pertinent to the OP but a shop near has a 1993 Orville by Gibson ES-335 and it was absolutely to die for.

It might pay to check the Ishibashi website and see if they have any exrubato's in stock. If your money is tied up in Reverb I think they have an account there also so you might be able to get something worked out. I think they can def beat the $300 shipping. Forgive me if I missed something they may or may not have already listed, I'm short of time today and gotta head out to a show in a minute. Epiphone just released the Futura series a day or two ago and one of them is a 335...could be worth checking the specs on those. If it has probucker ii and iii, those are solid pickups. Listed at $899. Good luck with your purchase regardless of what you decide to do.

If you find an AS100 or AS200 for under $1K grab it! Include the AS50 in that bunch too but most of them go for more than that. I demoed a Hofner Verythin a couple years ago and that was a very sweet sounding and playing guitar but again I'm not sure they're under $1K.
