I've been using Stringjoy (nickel and pure nickel wound) strings since they started, and love them! They just came out with flatwounds and figured some of you may be interested - check 'em out!

Nuts! No 13-56 set. That’s the gauge I would really want to try.

I'd be willing to give them a try but looking on their website,it doesn't state whether they are round or hexcore. My aging fingers much prefer roundcore these days.

Just send them a message. They'll let you know.

Just asked AI- they’re carbon-steel hexcore.

Here is the response from StringJoy about a heavier gauge in their flatwounds. So, if you’d like to see a 13-56 set too, please let them know.

“At the moment, we don’t offer a 13–56 Flatwound set, and we don’t have a firm timeline for adding that gauge range just yet. That said, expanding our gauge options is definitely on our radar, and feedback like yours helps us prioritize what to work on next.”

Not the biggest fan of stainless steel and was really hoping they would do nickel. I do like their nickel broadways. I ordered a set, you never know. Kind of pricy for stainless. Always looking! For those of you worried about tension, I always thought that the round core was easier playing but I found that if you get exactly the same gauges, both round and hex play the same.

Nice that they do 10 gauge with a wound 3rd, that is usually harder to find. I may try that set at some point.

I use a set of Dogal 10 flats with a wound G on my es330 for blues/jazz with an 11E very happily. I’m gonna try a set of the 9’s on a country tele or gretsch just to see what ultralight flats are like.

First impressions are positive. First question was if they are lively enough for country/blues in my Gretch Chet Atkins and they definitely are. Good feel, enough tension, ( guitar was set up with 11 rounds and there’s no buzzing), good intonation.

Can you comment on a couple things?
    1. How is the tension? Do they feel similar to Chromes in that they have a higher tension feeling?
    2. Is there a sticky/tackiness to them? Once again Chromes also have a tacky feeling at first so wanting to see how these stack up

It’s difficult to compare to chromes because I’ve only played 12sand sometimes 11s sets of the chromes and this is nine. I can say that the tension was higher than I anticipated when compared to round wound 9s. Not dramatically, but noticeably and I appreciate that feel and possible improved tuning stability. They are definitely not sticky to my fingers. They’re smooth and comfortable to play. I like them enough to have ordered another set.

i've grown really fond of the 12-50 guage of the thomastik js112 set. I'll sometimes put a 13-17 on the top two. But on the bottom side, other than solo guitar, I don't need anything thicker. And any improvement in tone is offset by extra tension and propensity to sound boomy

I’m the same, I’ve kinda settled on TI 12 gauge flats too. Sometimes I think I might go back to their 11s, but every time I have I end up going back up to their 12s.

If the string joy flats become available in their uk dealers, I’ll maybe pick up a set. The thing with flats is a very rarely change them so it’ll probably be ages and ages until I’d actually get to try them haha. I only have 1 electric guitar so I’m not caught up in what one to play anymore.

No surprise there - they’re both SS wrap on hex core.

No love for La Bella flatwounds? I've used their .013 to .053 set for years and years. They have a lower tension/softer feel than D'Addario Chromes and sound more 'acoustic' with less of that dead 'thunk' sound. They are expensive, though. They come in a variety of gauges, from an extra-super-light set of .009 to .039, up to a .015 to .056 set.

I have a set of La Bella’s on my Precision bass, but never had a set on my Jazzmaster man. I found the Thomastik Infeld bass flats a bit too slinky, not enough tension.

I received a set of the 10's yesterday. Threw them on my ES-295. The wound G string is quite nice to have for this set and the tone is quite nice. Plays really well under the fingers.
I asked the guys at Stringjoy about 13s and they said they had gotten alot of requests and are thinking about adding them. Not anything to go on but would definitely be nice to have for my solid-top guitars.

I have them on my '63 175. They are perfect on that guitar. They could be 5 years old! Mine are 12s.
