To me this guitar sounds terrific for sure. It is played by Tim who handles the guitar as well as anyone I have heard. To me this guitar sound like it is perfectly set up and plays nicely. It helps to have Tim's command of the guitar for sure. I am pretty sure compared to the Stromberg this recording is much more refined, but worth a listen,

Sounds great and beautiful playing by Tim. I wonder what’s up with the modern headstock logo?

    Re-necked at some point perhaps?

Yep, or the headstock was replaced as part of a repair for a broken headstock. You know how susceptible Gibsons can be to headstock breaks if they fall.

BTW, Tim Lerch's playing is fantastic as it always is.

That’s my guess. The body shape looks right for 1936, but I would guess the neck was replaced much later. Looks like they kept the Grover Imperials, which is cool.

    F-holes seem off for a '36.
Tailpiece seems mighty shiny as well - can't see any of the intricate detail they used in '36 - that might be the lo-rez video. Or not.
I'd love to see proper photos of the guitar.

Don't know if anyone here has looked at the YT video comments but the issue has been raised there.

So it sounds like he’s using brighter wound round strings in this video. And while they sound good, there’s a lot of string noise.
I wonder how it would sound with a good set of flat wounds?

I’ve never heard an acoustic archtop that sounded better with flatwounds.

I just saw a video of a British guitarist demonstrating String Joy’s new flat wounds light heavy gauge strings on a Loar 1930’s L-5 replica.
    They sounded remarkably good!

I have to say I am impressed with the sound of those strings in that clip.
A trial on one of my acoustic archtops looks like it is in the near future if I can access Stringjoy in Australia

    Yes, Alex Farran can play.
