Got this on a whim. I didn't have a laminate box of this size and I really like the blonde. It's nearly mint. Even included the undisturbed hang tags and polish cloth!

Had one for a couple years, really sweet axe. Mine was a late 90's and sounded great through my Twin. The feedback resistance is quite good even when you are cranking up. Congrats and enjoy!!!

I had a sunburst Westerley in the 1990's, a great guitar. It's a guitar I remember very fondly. With a great tone.

Fabulous guitar! I have a blond one, too. They seem to be an under-the-radar option for a USA-made electric archtop.

How are those pickups? Are they basically PAF style humbuckers with different covers, or something different? My only Guild was a flat top acoustic.

I can't speak to the technical specs, but to my ear they sound like what you would expect/want in archtop humbuckers. I've read about a pickup switch at some point post-fender acquisition... perhaps someone else can chime in with details.

FWIW, I'm content with them and don't foresee replacing.

Look great! I've come to prefer laminates. Enjoy!

I had one. I really wanted to love it, because of its pedigree, its hollow body and comfortable size, looks, and affordability.

Guild pickups always left me wanting. Of course it wasn't gonna sound like a Gibson, but the p/ups in it sounded cheap, and too bright, especially the 1st string. So I put 57 Classics in it and that smoothed it out.

To further add to my fun, I put a coil splitting switch onto a pick guard that I made to spice up the "look" of this blonde babe!
So, on the neck p/up I had dual coils or a single coil.

But I just didn't bond with the smallish neck. I have let go of some wonderful guitars because after playing classical guitar, I love big wide necks, and I just don't get around on small necks.

Great guitars. My 97 has a shallow neck angle and I had to have a new bridge made for it. Really nice sounding instrument. I'd rather play it than any 175.

Here is a website with some details on them, there were a few different versions used in the X-170's IIRC:
