    Hello everyone,

I recently picked up a DV Mark 50 Micro II for $80, it was such a good deal I physically could not bring myself to say no lol. I have been playing around with it for two weeks now running it through my Fender DeVille which has a 12" Red White and Blues and a 12" Cannabis Rex loaded into it and it sounds amazing! This $80 investment has also freed me from the shackles of the Fenders mere girth and presence of sound (even with it fully Fromel modded anything past 2 is unusable in civilized company). The headphone jack also sounds quite good and allows me to practice peacefully and with good tone when the wife is on her night shift nurse grind which was a huge bonus I didn't even think about before purchasing.

All this said I am looking to pair a nice single speaker cab with this head. I have been hauling my giant Fender everywhere for a few years, so anything by comparison will be portable, but the more portable the better. I have looked into the TOOB cabs and am quite interested in them, especially the 12j, but am unsure of availability in the Midwest USA. I like the tone I can get through my current setup, so purchasing a cab and throwing a Cannabis Rex into it is always a fall back but I would love opinions on what speakers/speaker sizes/cabs people really like, especially if they have used them with a DV Mark amp.

A Raezers Edge NY 8 couples with it really well.

    Jim,

I appreciate the recommendation. I had actually been looking at the RE NY 8 but I have only ever played through open back cabs so the idea of closed and ported had me a little nervous! That being said I would love to support a small manufacturer. Did you get to play with the extended range version or just the normal NY 8?

Also, I checked out your albums today; awesome work. I really enjoyed "Memories of a Friend No Longer With Us" and then hearing the revisited version on your second album was very cool. ?

For 8”and 10” speakers I would recommend a closed back design,to generate enough bottom end.
DV Mark makes a super lightweight 12” open back cab with a Neo 150 watt speaker as well.

Thanks. I've had multiple RE cabs. I never seemed to get along with the extended versions but I had lots of success with the standard 8's and 10's. Like you, I typically prefer open back amps and cabs but as noted by JADS, the smaller speakers get a lot of help from a closed back cab and the porting definitely helps.
