    Hello guys!

I want to have a few suggestions before I jump into any purchase, because I want to change the neck pickup in my Aria TA classic. It is a very comfortable guitar, but the sound is a bit sloppy, and muddy. I need something more exact, but still jazzy, creamy, and warm, which is also good for blues, funky, and a bit rock (in big band). Also, if the attack knocks a bit, I would be very happy.

I have a Gibson 57 classic neck in one of my archtops, and thinking to replace the pups to test it, but I dont know....

I dont want to jump into expensive pups like Lollar, because it would cost the same as the guitar, so you know

Thansk for Your suggestions in advance,

    Laci

I have a set of Wilde Pickups L90s in the guitar that I use for jazz, blues, R&B, etc. Basically the guitar I've been using for pretty much everything for months because it sounds good at everything. It is a semihollow that has had a Charlie Christian style pickup, Classic 57s and a couple of other PAF's before finding these.

Very versatile with a clear sound that stands a lot of rolloff on the tone knob without getting muddy. While it's a PAF size humbucker, it works as well with 250K pots as with 500K pots. I really like these. I have the 4H in the neck and 6H in the bridge. The higher the Henry number, the more inductance the pickup has and is usually a bit hotter and a bit darker. The 4H is pretty similar to a typical PAF output, maybe a shade hotter.

I also really like the Gibson Classic 57 which I have had in a number of guitars. It is a hard pickup to go wrong with, in my opinion.

Another might be the Dimarzio 36th Anniversary PAF. I don't know what, exactly, but there is something I like about their pickups better than Seymour Duncan's. However, the Seymour Duncan Seth Lover is a highly regarded pickup that I have never tried.

I dont have a suggetion on a specific pickup but if its a good playing guitar and you like it I wouldnt hesitate to spend money on pickups. Just becuase its an inexpensive guitar doesnt mean it has to sound cheap.

I played an Aria archtop for while but dropped an Armstrong handwound single coil in it. It was night and day from the original stuff. When I got my carved archtop I took that pickup and used it there. Just save the old ones and for resale drop them in. That said, 2 pickups are more expensive than one. Keep an eye on the used market if you arent in a rush.
