Picked up this ‘92 CES for far less than one typically sees them advertised due to a well repaired top crack (doesn’t bother me in the least), and no original tailpiece which has since been corrected. It’s a joy to play and the size is more manageable than I expected - I’m 5’8”. I see a long, fruitful future for the both of us.

Fantanstic score. I have a 97 and can say that those 90's Gibson archtops are superb guitars. May she inspire your playing for many years to come!
-
Very beautiful, congrats!
Crack wont affect the tone, ask violin players who play many times repaired old instruments.

A great score and a good year for them for sure. My 2005 is wonderful nothing plugged in sounds quite as good. Play frets off it and big guitars can be comfortable depending on how you play and hold them.
-
looks great! are you keeping the 350 after all?
-
Yep, I’m keeping it. Something else will have to go.

Ahhhh what a beautiful guitar! Love those 90s era Gibsons. My Super 400 is a 2009 and I don't think I'd trade it for anything, except maybe a 90s Super 400
Enjoy that magnificent instrument!

There is no comparable feeling to settling into a big ass guitar like that. It's a lap full. You will feel the resonance across your body. Soon it will seem natural to hold it.
-
Ha! Welcome to the Super 400 club. I have a 2002 Super 400CC. And I, too, am 5' 8" and one quarter inch!!! You can't take that quarter inch away from me. If I walked ramrod straight with shoulders thrown back I could almost pass for 5' 9"!
Play your lovely Super 400CES in good health. A well repaired crack lets out the stress and takes down the price. No harm to the tone.
-
My goodness. What a trio you got there.
-
Ah. The little things that have a huge impact on price while having such a small impact on anything else. Nice score.
-
Go big or go home. Love the marbled PG.
-
Amen to that! I had an L-5CES from the same year and I never could get along with it. Different story with the 400. It's got the sound...
