Hey,
I acquired an early 50s Epiphone Devon recently that came with a 1964 DeArmond FH-C with cable, mounting rod, volume control and clamp. I'm thinking of selling this pickup as at 10.7k output resistance it's very hot and microphonic, and less usable than I would like.
I've tried some basic solutions, such as removing the felt pads to lower the pickup as much as possible. I've used the hotter microphone input on my amp and used the pickup volume more as a gain control - this cleans up the pickup somewhat but I have less control over overall volume.
I would say that I'm big fan of the FH-C sound generally and I had intended to keep it. I did get in touch with Nick Fryer over at Fryer Pickups who I understand has some experience dealing with these, however he said to reduce the output to 7-8k it would require a new bobbin and full rewind - I think this could be too drastic.
I am considering selling it as I understand that some of the hotter examples are desirable in their own right, and then perhaps just getting an example with lower output.
If there's any interest I'll put it in the For Sale section of the forum. Any other suggestions are welcome!

I'm interested should you wish to sell it!

I think you should sell it and find another one that better suits what you’re looking for. As you can tell, there are interested buyers!
