When I was looking for what sort of archtop I could affordably buy new, discovered the Vox Giulietta, and then discovered it had been discontinued years ago. I thought I'd found one ex-demo but it turned out not to have been in the warehouse after all. I bought a Sigma ATA-200E Sigma Guitars - Cheap Archtop but it feels like its acoustic qualities have been compromised for the pickup. I bought and learned to play tenor banjo because that's what the music needs. But then I found a few Giuliette still in stock in Valencia.

It arrived a few weeks ago, I've already gigged it, sitting in with some incredible musicians at the end of the Tuscany Balboa Weekend in Montecatini, taking a break from all the dancing to play for the other dancers for once. Reading iReal and comping on the rhythm so the other guitarist could add colour. See also my posts in How the rhythm section swings

It's such fun to play. Not a huge acoustic voice on its own but great character. It's about the size of a Les Paul so more portable and comfortable for me. There's a piezo, which of course will never sound that great, but it's there. I'm going to try the microphone on it of course.

I've been wondering about its cousin with both humbucker and piezo pickups (I probably wouldn't use the piezo) -- Giulietta VGA-3D - Vox

Yes that's the one I originally tried to buy, because it seemed like there was an ex-demo one at a music shop in Germany, but then it turns out that there wasn't and they refunded me. The banjo sound would have been useful, but then I eventually bought a tenor banjo instead (zero regrets there).
