It’s important for anyone using sound reinforcement with direct input. FRFR is a new marketing concept in powered speakers. But we forget that all PA and sound reinforcement systems are “FRFR”. So mic’ing an amp for sound reinforcement uses a FRFR system to make the amp louder. Running the guitar directly into a DI, it just makes the raw guitar signal louder - and that does not sound like it’s coming through a guitar amp & speaker.

The club in which I played regularly for years had a huge QSC system, and I sometimes ran my archtop through a Reddi tube DI into it for fun. The sound was so big that it made Martin Taylor sound like he was using a Champ. It was impressive and a novelty, but it sounded nothing like a guitar amp.
