I searched German, European but never found that oval headstock logo.
Serge was definitely miming, this source says Eugene Vees (Django’s cousin) played the part.
Six decades on, Paris Blues retains its jazz appeal - Jazz Journal

Looks like an Epiphone headstock to me, with the vine removed, either from the guitar or the photo.

Typical Couesnon logo of guitars made in Mirecourt, France.
The workrshop opened in the end of 19th century, making instuments of the violin family, mandolins, and guitars.
The company made brass and woodwinds in Paris since 1881.

Really like the inlays

The Gypsy! That movie and Nat Hentoff's novel "Jazz Country") taught me that all jazz guitarists were either junkies (Gypsy) or pot heads (the jazz guitarist in "Jazz Country"). I liked :Jazz Country so much, I never returned it to my Jr. HS library.
