    Dear All,
I'd like to share a video I recently did.
I usually play my guitar acoustically, and when I amplify it, I rely on piezo pickups (fully aware that any instrument loses part of its “unplugged” or natural character once it’s amplified).
In this clip, however, I used a pickup made by ToneMaster Pickup, going straight into a free Fender Twin emulation.
It’s a humbucker with coil-splitting options (I believe I used it in humbucker mode here) and adjustable pole pieces, which is especially useful for players like me who use bronze strings.
The piece is a rather rough arrangement of a tune by Pat Martino, so this kind of tone felt appropriate.
    Hope you like it.

First, let me say that you play beautifully. I couldn't play like that if I lived to be a hundred, although at my age perhaps that's not saying much.

I was completely unprepared for your sound, which is quite dstinct from the "official jazz tone." I found it very evocative of a different time and place.

It was hard/impossible for me to parse out the sound of the pickup. Regardless, your tone was unique and captivating. Thanks for sharing!

    I like it.

I also enjoy the move way from the expected jazz voice. Great playing!

Your tone never disappoints. Nor your playing.

    Thanks a lot!
I’m a bit surprised it’s seen as a different tone compared to a more classic jazz one.
I guess that shows how little I know about this type of sound, as it’s not something I usually play with, so I assumed it was a pretty stadard jazz sound

I’m not really after a jazz tone, but I’m curious, how do you find it different from the classic jazz sound?

Even though you are playing with a magnetic pickup and a Fender Twin emulation, the acoustic signature of the instrument is still very evident. Was there an ambient mic or is all of the signal we are hearing coming from the pickup? I thought the low C was very well reproduced, which is not always the case; the bass frequencies were a little more pronounced than is usually the case with an archtop guitar recorded or heard acoustically, but it still sounded quite natural to me.

    Hi!
Yes, no mic, I just played straight into my small audio interface.
