I am playing on a drum stool currently but it is too low. Does any have a chair they really like for playing guitar?

At home, I use an adjustable-height piano stool. Solid, comfy seat padding, and no chair arms to knock my guitar.

For at-home practicing or for gigs?

A lot of drum seat recs in those other threads. i like a taller chair kind of like a barstool that I can prop one of my foot on occasionally. Kind of like those chairs they have at guitar center. Maybe you can raise some drum stools to that height? Actually the medical chair looked like a good option.

Recently I was introduced to the cello chair and I really like it. Didn't even know they existed until this summer at a weeklong workshop on the Alexander Technique. The first time I sat on one, I thought "what the heck is wrong with this chair." It took me a couple of days to figure out what the deal was because nobody mentioned it, I thought it was just me. Then I figured out how to sit on it and found that it works really, really well for keeping my back comfortable while playing. It does slightly change your relationship to the instrument, if you're playing seated, because your leg position is slightly different. This was beneficial to me. I don't have one at home yet, but will be getting one.

There are many "garage/shop/drafting" chairs that are essentially high stools, and a regular bar-stool, like you said, works just as well. Is there something different/special you're looking for?

[and yes, some of the guitar/drum chairs have options for height, like Soundseat, etc.]

They're stupid expensive, but having tried a couple of different less expensive options, I've found this to be the most comfortable. It folds up and is light enough to bring to gigs. Both the seat height and footrest height are completely adjustable.

    I'm looking at these.

I know that Robert Conti uses a drafting chair, which (as you say) is a high stool with a footrest and without arms.
I use an "executive" chair and raise the arms. Not ideal but the best all-around chair for me now.

Yes.. the K&M. Love mine but purchased it quite awhile back. They also have a backrest that's easy to put on and take off which makes them even more expensive. It's designed for gigs with fold up portability and durable materials. Unfortunately, like the man said, stupid expensive. So, thinking if I were buying today, I would try one of the Liquid Stands knock off models. Similar design. Probably not quite the same quality but gets good reviews so they are likely good enough.

I switched from a low stool to a simple, firm dining chair with a backrest and it made a huge difference for posture. I also sometimes sit in my egg chair outdoor when practicing unplugged; the angle is surprisingly comfy as long as the armrests don’t get in the way. Keeping your hips slightly above your knees helps a ton for longer sessions.

I love the Pork Pie Big Boy drum throne. The Gibraltar tripod base supplied goes high enough for me.

Tone wood isn't limited to the guitar anymore. You need a tone wood chair, or you just can't get the proper overtones. The $2,600 price is actually a discount where he doesn't tap tune the chair, but you should really spend the extra $1,675 on a tap tuned chair, just make sure it's laminate, a carved chair will have too much feedback with your overdrive pedals.
