A 1960, in fabulous condition. This indeed has that “Great Gretsch Sound”. Very lightweight, resonant and acoustically loud, plays effortlessly.
I am happy to have it. Working about a 10 minute walk from Rudy’s Music in Manhattan can be useful

And with my other single pickup/single cutaway, a 1963 Harmony H53 Rocket. The Gretsch is a 1960.

And as for the sound:

Including the Harmony for comparison. I think both guitars are underrated.

Cool. I was actually in Rudy's one day last week and saw this (though I didn't try it out). Looked like it was in really nice condition. Congrats.

Very cool! I love the sound of Hi-lo tron pickups.

It’s really something, the Hi-LoTron. It reminds me in some ways of the P90, an in-between sound that’s got more upper midrange than a humbucker or Filtertron, but more girth than a Fender style single coil.

Lovely guitar. I myself have a Double Anni reissue (made in Japan), which is a wonderful guitar.
I thought about buying one of the vintage single Anni’s last year for a couple hundred $$, but it needed a neck reset, and that was more work than I wanted to put into it.
The HiLoTrons are great pickups, and the Gretsch design is quirky and underrated. Until you get one.
