I love Yuki's designs. I don't have much info on this new one but I think it's just stunning.

Interesting it has a tuneomatic bridge rather than a traditional Archtop bridge.

A direct mounted TOM which suggests that there is a block under the top or that it's a semihollow. Certainly a very dramatic and attractive design. There is a lot of thinking outside the box in guitars these days.

I remember seeing an Eastmans 16” 803 CE Archtop with both a tuneomatic and stop tailpiece on Guitarsnjazz website. As well as a a Benedetto Bravo in Cherry finish with the same set up!

Very nice modern design. A little bit reminiscent of the Berlin archtop by Spanish luthier Jaen:

This is a pretty reasonable example.

Jim Soloway, the out line reminds me a bit of your Soloway Swan model guitars. Obviously it’s maybe internally and set neck differences aside.

That Single 15" body outline really spread quickly. I was really upset the first time I saw it happen, then it just became one of those things.

    Here's the Single 15

So still digging the Holdsworth Fat Boy you generously sold me. But I’m trying to make the neck a bit thicker by using J&B Weld wood filler Bondo and repainting the neck red as well.

Seems to add .20” overall so far. But still needs more coats and wipe on poly finish before I buff it out.

Wow! you are much more industrious than me. The proceeds from that guitar have (through a somewhat circuitous route) been morphed into my new/old Guild archtop. I don't know if I would describe that as a fun guitar but it does sound glorious.

Well I’ve never found a perfect guitar for my me.And I’ve been through over 500 no joke! But I found if it sounds really good acoustically, I try to see if I can find work around solutions to other issues, like a neck shape or pickups.

I will say I ended up putting a Lace Double Blue/Gold Dually in the neck position. That way I shut the Gold p/ up which is close to bridge off. It only reads the Blue pickup closer to the neck and seems to have a better bass response for a Jazz Clean tone.

I also find the ergonomics a bit different. meaning by Carvin Holdsworth Headless seems to sit bit further to the right on the strap. The Fatboy seems more akin to a Gibson Firebird, where the neck feels a little bit further left of normal
But again,it’s just getting use to it.
A really cool design over all, and hopefully I ll like the neck shape especially in the first five frets with more girth on it.

I already kind of experimented with my other Kiesel Holdsworth Headless and it did the trick for me.
And it’s fun After all, which keeps me out of other trouble,Lol!

    Hi y'all.

Just came across this thread while doing some poking around about Yuki/Nishgaki guitars. He's one of a few Japanese luthiers that I've come across on Instagram that make stunning work. In his case, seems like he has several lines, including those under his own name and others under "Collectera." I'd love to learn more about archtop and other smaller/boutique builders this this in Japan. Does anyone know of a good resource on the topic? More than anything, I'd love to play some of them, but seems relatively few make it to the U.S. and the stock at dealers in Japan seems to go about as fast as the equivalent builders in the U.S. does at shops like Music Emporium in Boston. I went to Japan a few years ago and hope to return in the next year or so, but the odds of those shops having many guitars from this kind of builder in stock while I'm there seems low.

If anyone has played one or knows of anyone in the U.S. that has one of these or collects Japanese builds, I'd love to learn from them. I've listened to a few recordings of Japanese artists playing them, but often they're playing with effects that obscure the sound a bit (despite some brilliant playing!).

    Thanks, y'all!
