Wow! I've always harbored a sneaking suspicion that they're the same person.

I have to keep a chart to show what strings and when they were changed on each of the guitars. Strat - .009, Steinberger .010, Gretsch .011 flats, Acoustasonic .012 flat top, a pair of dreadnaught acoustics .012, and a nylon.

I keep part of the string packaging, date it when strings are installed and keep in the respective case/bag.

I have lots of variations of strings on my 15ish guitars. Flat 12s to round 9.5s. Martin Monels on the Emerald and 3 different sets on my 3 archtops. In some cases I tried a few sets to see what worked with a particular guitar, but for the 2 Campys I keep my 17" with rounds and the 18" with flats. I don't want them all to sound or feel the same - it keeps me from just playing one of them all the time.

I have acoustic, electric, acoustic with magnetic pickup, acoustic and electric in Nashville tuning, 12 string, classical, and tenor guitars, so it wouldn't be possible.

The closest thing to a constant is that I don't do unwound Gs except for Nashville tuning.

I do favor flats by a wide margin. I have a text file on my computer desktop listing instrument-string set-last changed.

Experimentation is important but if I find a magic combo I stay.

Heavier strings and flats never agreed w my 335…dr pure blues 11s make it sound the way it should but the unwound g is kinda weird feeling.

my 175 loves TIs…13s rounds (I consider these light 12’s). Dogal 12 flats sounded great but I like the guitar more w TIs lower tension.

my Nickerson responds best to hefty strings…pyramid nickel classics 13-56.

i do miss flats and not having to change strings all the time.

I've been very happy with Rotosound Top Tape on both my 175 style and Pat Martino Custom, and Roto Reds 11-48 on my 335.
For some reason, the GHS Nickel Rockers 11-50 work best on my Tele.
