I have a Roland Blues Cube Artist amp - great amp. I’ve been looking at the videos on YT for their different sound “Modules”. I’m looking for a classic swing jazz sound - which is already pretty great with just the amp - but I’m wondering if any of the modules will do anything for me.
The “Ultimate Blues Tone Capsule” promises a real 6v6 tube sound. This intrigues me
Any Jazz players out there use any of these? What’s your experience?

I play a Roland Blues Cube Artist. With the Ultimate Blues tone capsule. I'm not using it for jazz, but the clean channel is very Fendery (it's actually modeled after Kirk Fletcher's Super Reverb, which would be 6L6's not 6V6's)... It can get a good jazz tone. The EQ on this amp is very powerful, unlike on many tube amps. It has alot of range.
That being said, a stock (no tone capsule) BCA is modeled after the Fender tweed Bassman, you should be able to get a good jazz tone out of that as well. I think the Ultimate Blues tone capsule increases the headroom over stock, on the clean channel.Last edited by ruger9; 09-04-2025 at 08:45 PM.

I've used the Sparkly Clean capsule from time to time. Very crisp tones true to the Vox'ish intent. For the most part I use the amp without it. It sounds quite good as is and as ruger said, the EQ is more effective than usual on this amp. Which is a good thing given the completely ridiculous price they are asking for capsules.

I've been intrigued by this, but never really dug deep to see what makes them tick... is it a DSP processor or analog SS circuitry? Do they use Nu-tubes?

No tubes.

I have expensive/boutique tube amps, but the Roland is with me for rehearsals and gigs... it just sounds great, and is very light. My snobby tube amps stay home LOL.

Here's a vid from Roland.
