    Hi everyone!

I'm looking for a all-tube amp to play in small clubs using a Gibson ES-335 — no mics, mostly blues and jazz (solo performances or with at most two acoustic guitars).

I like warm, fat clean tones, something inspired by a blackface or tweed, with enough headroom.

I prefer boutique amps or high-quality commercial builds (not Asian-made).

Any thoughts, recommendations, or experiences to share?

    Thank you!

I have a Louis Electric Colombia amp that sounds great. It's basically a Princeton with a 12" speaker, a mid knob, a beefed up transformer and 6l6 tubes so it puts out about 28 watts. It can get way louder than I'll ever need.

There's also the Lil King by Headstrong. You can get that with a 12" speaker and an larger transformer is an option too.

Princetons and Deluxe Reverbs sound very good so you can look at those.

I forgot to mention… budget is €/$1.5k for a used one, and the more compact and lightweight, the better

I'm a tube amp freak, and for what you're describing, I'd check out this Mambo! [In the UK; no connection with the Seller]

I just noticed you're in Italy. If you want all tube, then you're going to need to find one with an EU transformer (or have a voltage converter). Not sure what's available there. I know a few years ago, I was looking online and there's an Italian amp builder that was building an all tube amp that looked nice. I don't remember the price.
You might be able to find a used Princeton or a Peavey tube amp.

While I can appreciate many of the tube amps both old as well as newer. Try a Quilter Aviator 1x12” Combo, especially the Gen 1 & 2 versions. Al of the Tone none of the headaches including bad voltage at the venue!

Consider a Mesa Boogie Fillmore 25 with an open back 12 inch speaker. The clean channel has that 60s Fender thing, IMHO. I, for a while, wanted a HeadStrong Royal Reverb. But ended up with the Fillmore.
Try to listen to one before pulling the trigger because it is just my sense of how it sounds.

If you can lug 87 pounds around, a Fender Twin reverb is great, but there are other options too from Fender which are excellent:
The re-issue Fender Deluxe Reverb, and Fender Princeton Reverb
22, and 14 watts respectively, they just ooze that classic vintage tone and work great not only for jazz but classic rock, blues, country and surf as well, you cannot go wrong with either of these fine re-issues.

Sweetwater, and GC offer the FSR Limited Edition versions of these amps that sport different styles and brands of speaker and a variety of cabinet Tolex colors, there are even Tweed versions! You can get them with Alnico, or ceramic Jensens, Eminance, and Celestions. The Princetone Reverb comes standard with a 10" speaker but the FSR versions have a 12 inch driver.

Best of all, Fender has produce quite a few of these Blackface models since 1992 so there are tons of them on the used market. Most of them just need new tubes which is why they got traded in.

Fender tweed Deluxe 5E3 circuit amp. It'll cover your fat warm jazz tone and also your saturated blues tone and, wide open with everything turned to 12, your basic Neil Young psycho-shredabilly tone. Take that, Nigel Tufnel!
