For me that’s fine for cheaper studio solution. But I like to actually feel all of the characteristics of the actual instrument itself as much as hear it. For me the joy is in the Feel of the instrument!

I believe there are less expensive Korean versions. Try buying a used one of those.

I would think that it would! The guitar is a controller. It sounds real legit at least on the video.

I didn't watch the video; are they actually claiming it'll sound like an Ibanez GB10 or GB20? as opposed to just sounding like some generic archtop hollowbody "jazz" guitar?

...'cuz if it's the former, I call bullshit.

It was modeled using a GB-10

I agree. There’s far more to the sound of a guitar than the tone, and the best sims I’ve encountered are no closer than close. Many things conspire to change a guitar’s tone in live performance and recordings, starting with its physical characteristics. Every guitar has its own response to its players, eg how it responds to picking style, how much it mechanically compresses as it’s plucked harder, the responses of its pickup(s) and/or the microphone(s) being used, and how its tone changes with basics like hand position and choice of pick.

Guitars also play and sound different through different amplifiers. I don’t think modeling is anywhere near close enough to reality to simulate the interplay between a given guitar and amp, let alone multiple given amps on the fly.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the next step toward comprehensive modeling isn’t interactive guitars with transducers to both provide and detect haptics through the body, pickups, strings, bridge, nut etc. They’d interact with modeling software to make the guitar feel, play, and sound like the one being modeled. Everything from string tension to sustain to the sonic envelope (attack, rise, sustain, decay, release) could be altered.

Latency would be a barrier to perfect modeling. But I fully expect this approach to be tried and am kinda shocked that it’s not already out there.
