Heritage #3 pickup rebuilt by Kent Armstrong anyone?

Does anyone have a demo of a Heritage #3 after being rebuilt by Kent Armstrong? I’m considering having him do mine.

Marty Grass probably has one or knows. Frankly it probably would be a good upgrade. My understanding from MG is there is a new fellow with Heritage now who really knows his way around pickups, and he might be another source of information. I have here at home BigMikes Unity guitar Angel that Aaron Cowles made, and I think the pickup on this might have been special wound. It is quite I good one and much better than the ordinary Heritage and even a Gibson Johnny Smith.

I have a GJS pickup on my Hollenbeck that I sent to Kent to rewind probably 15 years ago. I had called him about making me a pickup and was telling him my GJS pickup on the Hollenbeck was ok but did not think it was as good as his. He told me to send it to him and he rewound the pickup and it is far better. Much better meat and sound all over.

You won’t go wrong with Kent Armstrong pickups. Almost every name Archtop luthier offer them as standard on their guitars.

FWIW, I've only heard one guitar with Kent Armstrong pickups and I was very impressed.

I had him do my HJS, and I remember it being more full and round, but that was at least 15 yrs ago, probably more. IIRC, he actually builds his PAF into the H housing, but ICBW.

Rob Doolittle is the Heritage luthier who also designs pickups. He has his own business out of his home shop.
