I'm considering the purchase of one of these guitars.

The FA-70 is a Korean model of the 1994 the other is more recent.

Both in perfect condition. Same price more or less.

Attacched the pages of the Aria catalogue with the specs.

Anyone tried both of them or can give advice?

    Thanks

I think the FA71 is a wide 17” body guitar in the L5 style. Very similar in many ways to the 90’s Epiphone Emperors and Samick Lasalle.

The DLX series seem to be more based on the earlier Herb Ellis model shape which is more of a ES-175 type.

It depends therefore what you prefer. The bigger FA71 will feedback more and it's a lot of wood in the hand. Note how Jim has blocked off the F-holes on his.
The Smaller DLX’s will probably be more practical.

Personally I would be more tempted by a Dearmnond Guild from the same era. Very well built and with good sound. I think the Deamonds are slightly thiner too which will make them more comfortable.

The dlx is the Herb Ellis model.
. Wonderful guitar but rare and pricy (actually inside the UE i ave seen just one on sale for 1000 Euro).
My choose is beween the Fa 70 and 71 that are sold for 500 more ore less.

I love my FA71, but... I hate where the volume and tone controls are. They interfere with my rhythm playing no end. If you play with wide chunky chunk swing you may want to consider this. On the other hand, if you're a less "primitive" player it may not matter, in which case I heartily endorse the FA71.

Does the FA 70 have a sound post?
    The 71 doesn't.

If you buy the FA70 you can re-sell the L5 style tailpiece for pretty good money and recoup some of your purchase price. Unless of course you just love that tailpiece and want it on your own guitar.

I had a FA 71 butd the volume and tone where those little flat wheels under the pick guard. It was such a good guitar. I sold it to finance another guitar that I ended up not liking as much.
