Several years ago I bought a couple of Whirlpool "Whispure" air purifiers for the bedrooms. A few months ago I started hearing music coming from somewhere at night and into early morning. I would get up and check all the radios, computers, tvs in the house to see if something was left on. EXREMELY faint, sort of like a radio station, with music and talking. Well I just discovered that it's the Whispures. I only discovered it because I turned them just off to get a better bearing on the source, and waddaya know, it stopped. Very strange. It's just a motor spinning a large plastic fan.

I returned a book to the University of Auckland general library last week. The machine that has replaced the librarians accepted the book, but did not issue a receipt. Instead, it sang a song in the Maori language.

    Audio pareidolia! It’s a thing.

My wife and I are both musicians and we have individually heard music/voices occasionally in fan noise of various kinds… box fans, air purifiers, white noise machines, etc. My working theory is that we have overactive aural senses that actually are trying to hear something in an ordinary acoustic environment.

No… we are not “hearing voices” - but our brains seem to be working overtime to make some sense (music) of the random ambience in which we live. (And no, we don’t get high!)

It’s an intriguing phenomenon and I wanted to relate our own experience of it.

I sometimes think that too. But I hear specific instruments & phrases/melodies.

Interesting. I visit my elderly mom every other weekend and have heard music and voices at around 12:00 in the morning. Turns out mom at some point accidently pressed the nighttime/sleep mode timer on her Bose stereo which is closed away in the bookcase with the doors closed. Come the witching hour, on it comes. I've yet to be able to stop this even unplugging the stereo and plugging it back in to reboot to factory specs. Glad I'm not losing my mind LoL.

I'd record it, might be a deceased relative trying to communicate with you, AI's planning a campaign to enslave humankind and take over the world, etc. You never know, you could go down in history as the one who alerted humanity to the coming apocalypse.

That's exactly what they want you to think. The Trojan Horse was just a charming wooden gift.
