Hello - I would like to get a gig bag for my Ibanez AS50. I have given up trying to get a hard case to fit so maybe better luck with this option? Anyway it's an unusual size sitting between 335 and 339 I think, and smaller than the more popular AS100/200. The dimensions are:
Lower bout width 39cm (15.4")
Length 105cm (41.3")
Thickness - thin bodied semi acoustic like a 335
All suggestions welcome but snug would be nice, and with some sort of protection at the bottom (when stood vertically).
Thanks in advance

The difference is small enough compared to a 335, that I'd be tempted to use a 335 Mono bag, and then place the rolled up strap at the bottom of the bag to make up for the difference in length

Yeah - I like Mono bags - was hoping for a snug-ish fit without having to add 'padding' if that makes sense?

The AS50 is a great guitar (built by FujiGen, IIRC) and it deseves a fine case. The Mono semi-bollow Vertigo bag is a nominal 16" across the lower bout, but the lining is thick and compressible. I've been carrying my thin (~2 1/2" body depth) 16" archtops in it, and it's a snug fit. So I'm sure the cushioning is a bit compressed by now. I just measured mine, and the widest point is about 15 7/8" across and only about 2" long. It looks to me like it would hold a 15.4 well.
I have 3 Mono bags, and I called the company each time to confirm that the guitar(s) for which I wanted it would fit well and properly. Call Mono - they're happy to discuss it with you, and they apparently have an extensive database of guitar sizes. They knew how big my Eastmans and Ibanezes are, and they're not common models. They don't want to have to take a return becaue the wrong bag was purchased.
I love my Mono bags and would buy the exact same ones again if anything happened to mine. I've carried one or more to at least 100 gigs a year since I got them a few year ago, and they're still like new (as are the guitars).

Thanks - that's really good info and makes good sense - yes I do like the AS50 and partly because of the size

Is the case you refer to this one: Vertigo Semi-Hollow Guitar Case, Black – MONO. ??
I see they also do an even more expensive version (with wheels ?) here: Vertigo Ultra Semi-Hollow Guitar Case, Black – MONO

I have the plain Vertigos. The Ultra hadn’t come out yet when I bought mine, but I probably wouldn’t have gotten it if it had. The only advantages for me would be that it’s fractions of an inch smaller outside and about 3/10 of a pound lighter. I don’t need or want wheels, and I wouldn’t use a few extra dividers in the big pocket.

I was in the same situation as you, and Ibanez makes a hard case that fits your AS50. I can't remember the exact one I bought, but it seems to me it's the AM200 one ? You can definately find a hardshell case in the modern Ibanez semi hollow line that fits the MIJ AS50 perfectly snug.

How about the bags for the D'Angelico EX / SS semi series? I think they are about the same size, but I have no idea about their quality.
