Really, it's there. We just painted over it.

Clunky ad copy aside, those are really cool guitars.

    Better than blue, but "eye-catching"?

Matteo Mancuso's weapon of choice. I'm drawn to them, he makes them sound great. But, that strap button perched at the apex of that cutaway.... I've been bothered by the variations in the upper bouts of 175's over the years, and that precarious configuration fits in the same category of visual consternation.

I would have mounted it perpendicular and posterior to the cutaway, down and behind, out of sight. As it is, it reminds me of a drunken prom queen, about to trip on her stiletto heels.

But I'm a visual person. My talent is drained away by visually incongruous instruments. Some forms of weird look cool to me (Grez guitars, for instance, or those steelcasters (brand?) and other designs (De'Angelico or Marchione headstocks) are bothersome enough to my eye that I would be distracted away from my playing. Like having a hole in the seat of your pants, wondering if people will notice.

There. I've made my worthless, but innocuous post for the day. I apologize for the minute you've wasted reading it, but I do feel better now.

    EDIT: Turns out, no.

I agree. You win a site award for post of the day.

I’ve never had a Yamaha guitar, but dang they seem to be a good bang for the buck. I would have no trouble recommending one to a beginner as their first guitar.

And btw…Santana’s best tone was on his SG2000 through a Mesa Boogie. I will die on that hill.

Def agree on your Santana assessment 100 percent. but I thought the guitar was a modded SBG3000 with a brass plate under the bridge for additional sustain enhancement.

This site says it was the SG2000. They do mention the brass bridge plate and other enhancements:

I’ve never owned a Yamaha—well I had a Yamaha trail bike as a teen—and am not familiar with the various models.

I have a Yamaha RS620, best playing guitar of the 12 guitars that I own. I believe it was around $700. Balanced, love the neck, love the pups, just feels right. If I went down to four guitars it would be this Yamaha RevStar, my tele, my dreadnaught, and my nylon string acoustic. Sweetwater sent this picture before it arrived.

It's unfortunate that you have apparently missed that rare spectacle of danger, grace, ineptitude and beauty. The combination only lasts for a short while before something gives. Like a glacier calving, I think. Or an Indy 500 crackup.

Somewhere in the depths of the pickup routs on my Les Paul Custom, there is a thin residue of either Boone's Farm or margarita mix from just such an interaction with one of those rare creatures. Alas, we were on two separate paths....

Reminds me of the time I found myself standing on the naked chest of a Jamaican street performer, lying on a tarp covered with broken bottle glass on the boardwalk at Venice Beach, holding hands (for balance) with a stunning creature in a white string bikini and roller skates, in the middle of a crowd of a hundred people. When the performance was over, she looked questioningly into my eyes for a moment... an invitation of sorts, that passed too quickly. Suddenly, the moment was gone.

"But I have other promises to keep...."
