I would definitely cut a hole and put a matching pickup in there.

Not to worry.... when you reach a certain age, before your first cup of coffee in the morning, the proper name for that bar pickup is a "bridge extension."

Nice guitar, I was attracted by the slightly wider than standard nut width when it was advertised. Enjoy it. I'd like it with an alnico 5 staple added at the neck, but thats just me. Don't worry about some reactions on the forum, most people here are reasonably civilised.

    Cool! Why the switch?

    I think that’s just an optical illusion…

Long story short, the opportunity presented itself. Interesting to compare two guitars from the same batch 70+ years later. I kept the one that was cleaner/all original.

Nice guitar! The L-5CT’s thinner body depth makes it super comfortable on longer gigs without losing the carved spruce top’s tone. Yours has a cherry finish that’s not common on these models as most custom cherry L-5s tend to fade to a wine red over the years so this one’s been well taken care of.

What a beauty. Very unique with single P-90 at the bridge, nice red and a thin model at that. Probably the only one ever made with those specs. I can see why the guitar tech kept it, but wonder why Ronnie didn't want it.

How does it sound plugged in?

No need to cut a hole, just add a DeArmond Rhythm Chief 1100 at the neck and it will be one hell of a versatile guitar.

Is this the guitar for sale on Reverb currently?

The whole point of the post was to say ‘hello’, show a uniquely-spec’d L5 which I thought would be appreciated by other jazz players and give some background and history on the previous owners and conceivers of this unique guitar.

Alan Rogan was an interesting guy who not many people know about. I’m new here so I must have stepped into some previous and sensitive conversation?
No, You did nothing wrong, it’s just the feature of the internet: always somebody gets a some kinda misunderstanding.

Beautiful guitar and a great story!

Congrats! And welcome to the forum (after six months of Your op…)!
