Never played a Polytone before so i thought i would take a chance. I paid ~$250 for it in excellent condition. It is easily my new favorite amp.. warm and round tone with virtually zero effort.
Holy crap does it thump when you turn it off/on though. So much so that there is a massive jet of air that puffs out of the input jacks.
I’m glad I was alone when I first turn it on.. that was an embarrassing startled jump

Ooh, she's pretty...
Btw, I wouldn't worry about the pop, they do that.
PS, Get yourself a $30 eq pedal and you would be surprised how easy you can get a familiar Fender'y sound by boosting the top and bottom. Enjoy!

I got one too last month from a Good Will auction -- Polytone Model 102 Amplifier | ShopGoodwill.com
It's in excellent condition but it's missing the name plaque on the front grill like the one that's on your amp.

The pop is not a fault, it is a feature. A tech who serviced my 102 (which I sold later) said that he could build a circuit in it with capacitors et al to make it silent. But I was satisfied with the knowledge that it is not broke.
Great amp. I had to swap a new speaker to it instead of buzzing original one. Here I read about Eminence Beta 12A and voila, it had the same sound that original one (without the buzz).
In the end it just was too big for my home and gigs. A finnish rock star bought it, he collects Polytones!

Yeah, it’s quite a nice sounding amp. Though it is a bit hissy (not unbearably so) compared to my Superblock.
