I just bought a "40s" L7 needing work. It has a mahogany neck its hard to tell from the pictures but mabey the rims also. Parallel inlays and 17" lower bout. The guitar is stripped and no ID inside so not to many clues till I get it. Any guess's as to year or info about construction much appreciated, Ive spent the last 3+ hrs searching and havent come up with any consistent info. I want to do a NGD when I get it L7 has been on my list for a long time.

We will wait patiently. How about a link to the ad, since you already bought the guitar?

I finally got the pictures (theyre prob upside down) Thanks for the Gruhn info. the thing thats throwing me off is that the neck looks to be mahog (mabey not) if its maple then its just like what Gruhn describes but the one shot of the back of the headstock looks like a 1 pc mohag to me. Fom what info I could find the up to '39 necks were mohag but had picture frame inlays. I cant find the records showing a mohag neck with paralellogram inlay. or mabey its not mohag and it would be just like the one Gruhn commented on.
Thanks for the help. I should have it next week, it needs some love but it looks doable

Oh, that is a real project!

The OP's project guitar appears to be a post-war Gibson ES-150, not an L-7. The later 150s were made with mahogany back, sides, and neck, I believe.

I think it would have to be a 250 but I cant find any with parallelogram inlays or crown marker on headstock but it could have had a cc pickup? Good spot

I think your right, contacted seller. Thanks

I agree w/early post-war as well. Very cool guitar, easy enough to restore.

Oh yes, not an L7 anyway. I did not know. Now it makes sense, I see the holes for the P90 screws.
