Rich can make any guitar sound wonderful.
I once owned a Heritage H550 identical to the one in that video. What a sweet jazz box!
The H550 is most similar to a Gibson Tal, being a plywood constructed big bodied beauty.

This is a great model for a gigging guitarist in a jazz or show band. It's pretty versatile. I like it as much, maybe more, than my ES-175. The stability of the bridge to me is an advantage. Maybe it sacrifices some tone, but I can't hear the difference considering all the variables. The longer scale may add to the rich tone.
My point is that this is a very good laminate instrument.

There's an H-550 for sale locally (Minneapolis/St. Paul) that appears regularly on Craigslist for $2500. It's been posted there for about a year at that price. Beautiful looking guitar. I bought my ES-175 back then, also from a Craigslist ad, because I saw that one first and liked it. I never went to see the Heritage. It's tempting to go buy it now, but I am pretty much out of space for guitars and have more than I remotely need now. If I was going buy another archtop, it'd be an acoustic 16" L-5 or one of its siblings (L-48, L-50, etc.).
Heritage H-550 (price reduced) - musical instruments - by owner - sale - craigslist
For all the complaints we make about lack of availability of archtops and prices being too high, there are probably deals like this all over the world if we look around for them. I mean, $2500 for this? Not really a beatable deal. I got my ES-175 for $2500 last February. They're out there.

The best deals will not be found online, that's for sure, least of all on Reverb.

He certainly can.
I think he's selling that one if I'm not mistaken? He found a WesMo recently and he thinks he's going to keep it and sell the Heritage they made for him.

He was at the Orange County guitar show this past weekend and had that H550 on display. His youtube videos and hearing the actual guitar in person were virtually identical. He does a really good setup on his guitars also. All of them played really smooth.

I bought and sold a lot of guitars.

It seems that if you play and instruct as well as he does guitars sell. Even when it’s a tough market.
He’s created a really good business model for himself!

He really has, along with his YT channel and the other side projects he does like the "Central Coast Jazz Festival".

Every Thursday, (baring something unusual happening) Rich Severson hosts a "Live Stream"
( Rich Severson - YouTube ) that begins at 11 a.m. West Coast Time, so I see its kickoff at
2:00 p.m. in Florida. I really enjoy Rich's entire schtick, the You Tube videos, "Live Streams",
custom string sets, (https://guitarcollege.com/strings) and so on.

I try to attend when I remember/can. Good stuff.

Owned a H550 years ago. Great guitar overall, but a bit too large for me overall. I tend to go for a smaller body size with my Benedetto Bambino 14&1/2” X 2&1/4” depth.

Every time I watch Rich I am struck by how effortless his playing is. His fingers seem to barely leave the strings and his movement of both hands is so fluid. He makes it look easy.

The Craigs lead above appears to be sold. Rich is asking for $4k for his, plus an annual sub. to his site. Is this steep for a 550?
