One's come up for sale in my area and I'm tempted...never tried an Eastman, I need it to be "quieter" acoustically than an archtop.

It'd probably fit the bill. Depending on what they are asking $-wise you might have several other nice choices at a similar price point.

It's around 800$ .....What other choices would you suggest?

A friend of mine plays one. He sounds good on it. Like any semi-hollow, it’s a lot quieter unplugged than a full hollow-body. In general, Eastman guitars are very well made from good materials.

Don’t know about Eastmans but my secret to be able to play guitar while watching tv with my wife is to play quiet. And I seriously think that it has made me better player! It have schooled my heavy right hand lighter.
Of course everyone has their different situations. I have my own room where I can play louder too.

When I practice with my semi-hollow unplugged, my wife can hear it in the next room with the door closed, but my semi is actually fairly loud unplugged (appreciably louder than a 335). So I guess I'd say it depends on the wife and on the semi. Either can be changed (but one change is much more difficult and expensive than the other).

I'm certain the Eastman is nice, but you should definitely look around and consider some other options while you shop. You never know where you might fall in love.

The Eastman is a few blocks away so I'll give it a try tomorrow....

I think they have a 1-3/4" neck width, if that's any concern to you.
-
Anything narrower than classical guitar neck width is a step in right direction for me
