Circling back to Skip's original question: I'm happy to pay fifty cents / disc for jazz and / or classical CDs in pristine condition to anyone selling them within an hour's drive from Sebastopol CA. Please PM me if you want to unload your collection.

One difference for me: I have an Alexa device hooked up to my pretty decent Marantz stereo system, and subscriptions to a couple streaming services. I can think of any tune and ask the device to play it. "Alexa, play Thelonious Monk, Ruby, My Dear." And out it spills. That level of convenience just can't be beat.
The other side of the coin is that sometimes I want to hear some music, but I just don't know what. So I can flip through my hundreds of LPs and CDs and stumble across something. Maybe something out of print. Something I've forgotten I had. Some bootleg recording. Something that reminds me of a time or place or some long lost friend. Something that brings back a host of memories that Alexa could never unlock.
That's kind of special too.Last edited by Flat; 01-12-2025 at 11:33 PM.
