    It's not difficult to remove them. There is no law that I know of that requires them to be in place, and you can see many well-known guitarists playing without one.

    I didn't like the pointy plastic one on my Collings, so I did do away with that one, for a while. But then I made one from BRW, and it accents everything else very nicely. I considered a little inlay on it, but I think I like it just like this.

    There has to be more than one person out there who collects them. Cheaper to collect than the actual guitars.

    That's what I mean! Just another useless part. A rosettte is useless, but at least it's perm attached.
