I had a bit of free time in the LMS and went looking for a short scale Fender. The only guitar that more or less met the description was a Squier Jaguar.

But what a Jaguar it was. Nice burst, bound neck, block inlays. Nice dark fret board. I liked the floppy strings (24” scale). And cheap like borscht. I didn’t get a chance to play it and hear how it sounds as a fellow was AB-ing distortion pedals through a Twin in the amp room.

I could see this Jag being a lot of fun, though.

Sounded terrific in a Regent Music YouTube review.

I traveled through Russia and Ukraine. Never once found cheap Borscht. Thankfully my neighbor is Russki, so I’ve got that covered.

I like the Jaguar too, the sunburst 'Affinity Series Squier Jaguar'.

I had a vintage 65 Jag. It was even lake placid blue. I hated that infernal thing. Horrible microphonic pickups, horrible bridge, horrible tremolo, easily damaged basswood body, and more electronics than you could shake a stick at most of which didn't do much. It had a chrome/rubber palm mute thing that I noticed they never include on newer jags because it was about as useful as tits on a boar hog and probably cost a pretty penny to produce.

The upside is the offset jag body is very, perhaps more comfortable, than any other solid body design and the neck was very nice. While it, with all it's chrome and switches and dials in conjunction with a coily cable and 15 watt amp, set a fire in my soul for electric guitar as a kid, a jag doesn't even make good firewood. I traded it for a CS strat and sold the hang tag on it for $60 to some idiot collector who just had to have it haha.
