I’m wondering if working jazz players regard the Katana as highly as the old Cube series as a lightweight, capable, reliable, workhorse.

For grab and go, the CUBE amps are outstanding. In fact a Cube 80GX replaced my Polytone for many years. Now that my gigs are fewer, I have switched to Katana in my little teaching studio. They sound fine out of the box, but with a little tinkering with the Boss Tone Studio software, you can get marvelous tones locked in. Once you find your tones, you never have to go back in the software. Daily, I use two katanas—one for me and one for my students. It’s the amp most of them are buying these days so it makes sense from that perspective too.
Others on the forum have been hot or cold on the Katanas, but I really like the 100 watt versions (112/212/and Head) and the Artist. Mine are the 100 watt heads and I can’t beat them. They even have a small speaker built into them if you don’t want/have a separate speaker cabinet. I use little 1x12” cabinets with each of them. Got these amp new for under $300 each, delivered. Had the speakers on hand.

If so, does it have warm vintage sounds for jazz guitar?

It’s a Limited Edition Blonde/Wheat version of the ‘65 Princeton Reverb Reissue. Apart from the aesthetics of the blonde tolex, wheat grill cloth, brown panel and cream knobs, it came with a 10” Celestion Gold alnico speaker. Probably the best speaker I’ve ever heard in a Princeton Reverb. A great amp for jazz!
