Can anyone recommend an amp (not just a head) that will fit in a suitcase? I will be traveling and want to pack something in a suitcase that will have a reasonable sound. I know there are a lot of solutions using headphones, but I was hoping for something else.

How big is your suitcase? And how much space of it can be occupied by the amp?

What do you intend to do with the amp? Only practise inside a hotel room or also more?

These seem to be pretty well regarded for what they are: Access to this page has been denied

Edit: if you hover over the link, you'll see it takes you to Sweetwater. Must be something with the forum code.

I have one. It's not loud at all. OK for practicing quietly, but not much else.

My purpose is to practice in my hotel room.

The suitcase is a normal case about 3" high and maybe 10" deep.

I bought this little amp on AliExpress for that exact same purpose:

    Here are the specs:

I must say I quite like it! It lasts pretty long on the batteries, so you can take it to the beach, swimming pool or whatever. In the hotel I just use the dc power supply.

Sound quality is actually pretty good on low volumes! The reverb definitely adds to it.

I just use a Fender Mustang headphone amp with a pair of ear buds. If it's just for practice, I'd rather not mess with even a small amp and it sounds shockingly good.

Years ago, I used a pocket pod with phones for traveling. It sounded awful. I have to believe this is much better. Do you have the plus model or the base one?

Quilter SuperBlock US and any of my Toob Metro 6.5" cabs. 6-7 lbs and you're good for the stage, not just hotel room. Over 800 made. TOOB

Disclaimer: I make and - Heaven forbid - sell them.

aer compact 40 is the smallest I know of. I actually preferred the sound to the compact 60 lovely reverb on them too

I think the zt lunchbox amps sound pretty bad.

However, when I travel with gear to practice i take a quilter superblock head and a zt tiny cabinet. Takes up very little space and sounds actually good.

Base. I'll probably get the plus in the new year.

I am really impressed with the Blackstar Fly 3 battery powered amp. Not terribly loud but sounds pretty close to a real amp. I got it for the same purpose; practicing in hotel rooms. Works great.

For practicing in a hotel room, I would use a SuperblockUS (or any small head or pedal) and headphones, maybe earbuds. I don't see a need for more, but I'm not you.

The Plus is a huge improvement over the Base...I love it .....it sounds so good with over the ear headphones which are more comfortable for me. Sold the 2 Base models I had the day after I got the Plus....which paid for the +.....

I have a Yamaha THR that I have traveled with. No problem for a suitcase.

Got rid of that "positive grid" as fast I could. Got a Fender Mustang micro instead and have now upgraded to the Plus.. not going back.

The Quilter looks great, but a bit out of my budget for a vacation. For the stage, I am all set with my Fender and Laney tube amps.

I assume you are using this for a clean sound. The videos I have seen on it in YouTube are all distortion focused.

I have a suitcase I use all the time when I use my Deluxe Reverb. It has an extending handle, roller wheels, a pair of internal straps to secure the amp, and a pair of external zipper pockets for cables and stuff. It is not made for amps but the DR fits (vertically) perfectly snug. Looks just like this:

ZT Lunchbox Jr. is great. I have two of them. I have no idea why some above say they don't sound good. My other amps are Henriksen 12, Henriksen Blu 6, Mambo and I used to have a Sequel Ravine plus various heads into various Raezer's Edge cabs, so that's the kind of quality jazz tone I like. The ZT hangs with them just fine for low volume practice purposes.

    Nice!

I have a Tweed Deluxe sized (but lighter) combo and I have searched some backpack type solution to carry it. This would almost do. Or maybe I should go to work as a Wolt or Foodora courier and test their backpack…
