    Few thoughts on my mind.

    1) People were talking about strats not sounding good straight into an amp.
    2) Girl talk is an awesome song
    3) I got a digital camera finally, what you get is all captured live with absolutely zero post-processing (yes, I have outboard eq/comp/reverb).
    4) This guitar needs an onlyfans page.

Sounds and looks good. Who said strats don't sound good plugged straight in? Strat into a classic Fender or Marshall is a pretty great sound.

a good friend of mine had an original '64 Burgundy Mist Strat. He sold it at a guitar show over 30 yrs ago for 25K which at the time might have been a record for a custom color Strat. I get the rarity factor but it's funny to me how much a certain color paint adds to the value of one of these and Burgundy Mist is about the rarest most desirable color.
But the buzz around that guitar at the show that day was unbelievable, there was literally a line of people waiting to have their picture taken w/ it including some well known high end dealers.
yes, Girl Talk is a cool tune and used to be on my set list years ago when I had a different trio, I should probably add it again.

Yeah this is CS not vintage. I have to admit I’ve never gotten the bug for vintage when it comes to solid bodies. I lucked out on this burgundy mist: nobody wanted it and I got a sweet deal.

The amp is, as usual now, my 64 vibrolux reverb. Killer amp. I actually got to gig it last week since the venue had parking right outside and I don’t have to walk any city blocks or stairs.

A long time ago I used to play through one of these

Then for a while I just played through one of these

Now I just play through one of these

I've done it that way, Stratocaster, instrument cable, Fender tube amps for decades. I play jazz in a trio (guitar, bass, drums) and have not been moved to add a thing because pickup selections are so versatile for jazz if you raise the middle pickup (people often lower the middle pickup to maximize the quack sound when combined with the bridge or neck, but miss out on a few of the additional jazz tones). It's so nice to just use the selection switch (and a little technique) to set a variety of moods for the tunes.

    - bridge as trumpet, steel guitar
    - middle plus bridge as flat top
    - middle as old acoustic archtop
    - middle plus neck as classical guitar
    - neck as modern electric archtop

The Stratocaster is a great guitar....but the real test is during a concert - then you can say a lot more about the sound and comfort of playing. Then you can work on the setting and choose the right strings. These are my experiences.

I love a strat for a jazz gig. I’ve been meaning to post some clips of Strat into a mambo from an outdoor gig. Sound was amazing.

Strat, cable and a blackface amp. I'm addict to that sound and spend many hours in the 4 position (sometimes with a bit of tremolo), what a sound!

    Nice one Juan, congrats!

What string set is your favorite in a Stratocaster for a jazz gig?

Great question. I have one strat set up with 11s (plain g) and one with 12s (wound g). Each has its trade offs. I’d probably use 12s for a jazz gig but I think the 11s are more versatile. Jazz is doable on both.

Strat straight into a Super Reverb! Robert Cray,SRV, many older Bluesmen also used this Magic Combo!
