Hi. I have a very cheap archtop, but it plays very well. It's a bit of an oddball - it's a Redwood, and was labelled as an acoustic and came with acoustic strings, but had been fitted with a floating pickup. Of course I changed the strings, but I don't much like the tone of the pickup.
Should I replace it with a better floater? A cheap one - Artec? Alexpress?
Or go for another? Any recommendations?
Thanks.

What's your budget? If you want to spend $50 on a pickup, that limits our recommendations. If you can go to $250 or so, you have a lot of options.
On the cheaper end, I'd recommend a Kent Armstrong one made in Korea such as the Jazzy Joe. There's not much else in that price range I would recommend, to be honest. Stepping up from there, a Kent Armstrong handwound PAF-0 would be a good option, as would a DeArmond 1000 or 1100. I've never used a Krivo or a Dommegenet, but those are often recommended.
Does the guitar have a tone control or is it, like many floaters, a volume-only setup? If there's no tone control, adding one might help a lot with the existing pickup.

Tony PM me I have bunch of different ones sitting around. I have 2 Kent Armstrongs, Krivo, and other stuff. Nothing horribly expensive the Krivo would be the most at $180. new tried but nor used.
