You are correct, forced air dries out the air and blows it around the house. It's why we use humidifiers in the midwest winter.

Thanks Doc, now Im having symptoms of archtopessnervosis. My guitar room stays 40-50% most of the year but I turned on the heat this morning just to take the chill off (1st time this year) grabbed my coffee, perused some posts, checked humidity its 34%. Other than small adjustments to truss rod or bridge hight are there other concerns? I have both carved and lam arch tops which Ive always kept in their cases but since Im not taking them anywhere Ive been leaving them out which is really nice to just be able to grab anyone of them and play. I gave them all a strumm and everybody seems happy and well adjusted, so what are the "safe limits" or is it guitar specific. Its now 43% outside and warm enough to open the windows but as the season progresses the heat will be run more and longer at what point would you set a humidifier, low 30s or ...?

Unfortunately, sometimes when you gig you have to do just that, but the guitar survives.
