Lucy’s Jazz Guitar Gretsch G5420 and Projects

Hi everyone I hope we are all well ^_^ a whole while back everyone gave me some advice on getting my first arch top for Jazz anyway that’s lead to a whole journey of wholesome exploration of different styles of guitars n a desire to learn more on setup n stuff an I thought I’d start by sharing my Gretsch G5420TG-59 Lefty an in the coming days some of my other guitars.

I bought her 2nd hand from a rockabilly player who had gigged it quite a bit n I changed over to some flatwounds the moment I got her home an wow I just absolutely love playing it there’s something so cool about the airiness you get with the pickups an the beautiful feel on the neck is right up there with my 56’ American vintage re issue mk1 fender strat lefty which was actually the one from the Namm show when it launched. Bought from a recording studio guy over here who collected lefty strats.

Anyway back to the Gretsch lately I’ve been learning some Emily Remler stuff as well as Wes n it’s just been such the perfect companion especially when played into my Fender Tone Master Deluxe reverb that initially I got for Danny Kirwan stuff n Shadows stuff before feeling like I could attempt to learn some Jazz so exciting!

Also been using an echo pedal an that’s fun to!

What else have I been working on well I’ve just got my MIC telecaster lefty classic vibes that I got for yardbirds stuff which I’m gonna stick some light flat wounds on while I start to play more again now I’m recovering from a none guitar related nerve injury to my neck which stopped me learning n playing for an absolute age. I’ve also been working on a Epiphone Masterbilt modern Deluxe that I’ve converted to lefty n have got a few plans for maybe a floating pickup to do away with the awful Peizo although lately I’ve got a few nice tones from it. Mainly got that to as a learning platform how to do fret work n stuff an experiment with hopefully one day leading to me making my own guitar n yep been reading the Benedetto book so much!

Utterly in love with the Gretsch a can so see me adding another one at some point.

depends what kinda mood I’m in. Always nice for a lil bit of a shimmer with the heavier guage flat wounds compared to the much lighter strings on my strat n les Paul.
