Has anyone owned or played a good-enough acoustic cutaway under $200 new? needs access to higher frets.

$159.99 after $10 coupon for a guitar package that comes with padded gig bag, strap, digital clip-on tuner, capo, optional pick guard, extra pack of string, 4 Picks, cleaning cloth, and Allen wrench does look attractive and might be fine for some things...
...but you know that guitar is made for beginners, and cowboy chords at the beach, or singing around the camp fire, or practicing in the bath tub... it's a student's first guitar that may not be suitable for an experienced guitarist with technique sufficient to be seeking access to the higher frets.
If you do get it I'd be interested in your assessment of its quality, especially if surprised.

The OP's post is from 2015, according to the U.S. Gov's inflation calculator, $200 in 2015 = approx. $262 in 2024.
This Brazilian guitar maker has a good rep, their WS series acoustic cutaways retail for $299:

Um, 2015 was the OP's join date... lol

Yes, I was looking at the wrong side of the screen, but you got a free inflation report.

well my favorite guitar is a gretch jim dandy for $150, so there is some hope. I ordered the one from amazon that I showed and I will report back. Free returns.

I'd try to find a second hand Seagull.
Edit: may be not such a good idea - didn't realise the prices they go for these days!

The guitar came today and I'm happy. Best camp fire guitar I have ever played to be honest! 10/10 for the price.
