Thanks for the all the help and advice & hi, Chris!
I usually suggest forgiving a unsightly bulges after forty years, but in this case it seems like I should get the caps relaced before rather than after the near one explodes.
Will also get the lead replaced with an IEC socket since no one seems to be worried about that, and I'm already bored of the swinging plug hitting me in the shins.
I know a very patient amp tech so will try him...

Forgive a very basic question. Can anyone help with the easiest way to replace the foam on a teeny brute? Mine is disintegrating and the badge is only attached to the foam, not the plywood, pulling the foam off.
I’ve ordered some new foam; can I remove the baffle to screw the badge to it (through the foam I guess). Or should I send a small child in there to fix the badge pins from inside the amp?

In my Polytone (Mini Brute IV) the badge was attached to the foam (with two metal sticks and a friction plate) and the foam was attached to the front baffle with pieces of velcro.

I have the same issue with my MBIII. I took the metal badge off to sort out later. That was 30 years ago but the badge is safe!
My Teeny Brute is still good.

The foam is easy to cut and stick on with Velcro but the badge is a challenge. Mine just has two blunt metal prongs. Best I could think of was to drill two matching holes in the baffle, cut out tiny squares in the foam (getting them in the right place was a challenge) and ram the prongs in. Used some Velcro on the back of the badge to stop it working loose. It is now fairly well fixed! Better than Polytone had done, anyway.

I took the foam off and made a new grille cloth baffle to my MB. More road worthy.
I don’t know if the fendery grille cloth is right for the sound but at the time I wanted sonething else than all black.
Behind the foam You can see the holes where the badge was attached.

There should be metal plates with almost enough big homes behind the foam going to those two blunt metal prongs.
(The pic is from a Reverb ad.)

yes, I have those, but couldn’t work out how to get the foam underneath them. They wouldn’t come off the prongs - don’t screw. Is it case of just forcing them through the foam somehow then turning them to hold it?

looks great but I reckon slightly beyond my woodworking ability!
