Like for every succesful product, there are also Boogie clones in the world. Also in Germany. In the early 80s Boogies were still rare and very expensive in Germany.
Enough reason for 3 guys to raise a (like nowadays called) "start up" and to build a nearly 1:1 clone of an early MKII. Unfortunately also with the little design flaws of the early Boogies.
They were built from 81 to 84. Built like a tank, " Made in Germany" throughout. I restored one some times ago. A monster amp, 60W like the original, with an EV12 speaker. I keep it just for fun, way too heavy to carry around with its 30kg.
Attached Images Attached Images There is a story out that Gibson is getting rid of Randell Smith-20240821_203749-jpg

I saw a youtube clip of a reputable guy in the guitar business that confirms Randall was let go by Gibson. No surprise there, the company is run by guys who don't know or understand guitars or musicians. Their aim is NOT making great quality guitars; is resting on the legacy and the name, to make as much money as possible. That's why legends like Johnny Smith sued them and wanted nothing to do with them, Barney Kessell painted the headstock on his guitar black, cause he didn't even want to see the name Gibson on it. This sad, Mesa Boogie is part of the American guitar sound.

    Cheers,
    Arnie..

You saw a Youtube clip of someone with an opinion, one that is contradicted by the statement made by Gibson. I very much doubt Gibson is lying, because doing so could lead to litigation.

The experiences of Johnny Smith and Barney Kessel are irrelevant. Gibson was run by different people then.

Contrary to Gibson's statement? Gibson was vague by just saying his mission was complete. Litigation by who? Who can claim harm by Gibson's statement?

Gibson has changed hands several time and is now being run by a collection of fools who are only try to squeeze every penny out of the guitar market.

There quality has been sketchy for decades. There products are way over priced.

I made a clear statement of a clip I saw, yes. However, the clip was based on (supposedly) Randall's statements. Weather is true or not, my opinion of Gibson does not change, and I own and love Gibson instruments, at one point they were at the top of their game... As far as the experiences I described during the "Norlin" years, they were actually run by better and more competent people than now, in my opinion. The folks who run Heritage Guitars (previous Gibson employees) can attest to that. Sometimes people are told to resign by companies, in order to save face, they might have just pushed him out in order to say he left or retired. I've known first hand of a lot of folks that been through it.

    Randall Smith, of course.

The quality of Gibson's guitars is irrelevant.

Maybe Smith just wants to retire. Maybe this matter has nothing to do with Gibson's shortcomings.

Sometimes people just retire. Being 78 years old might be a factor.

Makes sense, altho you'd think Randall would have put out a statement saying such if it was as simple as that... heck, if I were Gibson I'd be BEGGING him to put out a statement so it wouldn't make the company look worse than it already does.

Smith may have reason for legal action regarding the terminated employment agreement, but not over a vague public statement.

The relevance of the company's other products is that it speaks to the company's priorities.

Maybe Smith retired, but maybe he wanted to maintain the Boogie vibe and reputation and Gibson did not.

I don't know why you are defending Gibson. Maybe you like the company and their products.

Those are my feelings for Boogie and I see a great product line going down the drain because of a company that is badly mismanaged.
