Can anyone tell me what the BS means on this Epiphone? Thank you. And while I am here, these MIJ 80's Emperors are laminate tops, not solid?

I'm going to take a wild guess and say it stands for "brown sunburst". Without the benefit of photos of the outside, it's just a guess.

Yes, that is it. Thank you. Others on the web have been listed as such, and Id assumed they went by Tobacco Burst.

That is not the direction I thought this thread was going to go when I first read the title.

    Let's correct that....

There is no serial number on the label sticker, which states, "guarantee void if number is defaced."

You still win the prize for the most moronic, pointless, and useless replies on the forum, over and over, the JF's very own fickle factotum. Instead of viewing everything as a scam, as fraudulent and suspect, how about you do some homework on this one and look at other MIJ 80's labels. Do you see a SN there?

Please do me a favor and say nothing when you know nothing, especially on my OPS. Please.

I have an MIJ Emperor, a blonde one. Serial number is on the back of the headstock not on the label. I can't remember exactly what mine says on the label, I know it refers to the blonde finish, but BS would certainly refer to the sunburst.

Thanks for that. Do you know if these are laminate tops or solid?

They are laminated, but they're thinner laminates that are more like what I've seen on Gibsons from the 50s and 60s. These are great guitars, in my opinion a cut above most other MIJ instruments.

Hey, I'm so sorry to hear that you had your sense of humor surgically removed, the operation was obviously a grand success! I was replying in jest to andrew's comment re: the title of your thread, my statement was not a critique of guitar labels, merely a humorous comment.

In the future you may want to state at the beginning of threads you create that you have zero tolerance for banter... then again, anyone who has read your often sullen forum posts would already know that.

Well, maybe part of the problem there is that banter often doesn't go over well in textbased communication. There's no nod, wink, smile or other nonverbal cues.

It's less an issue, Mick, of a sense of humor than an ability to suffer fools gladly, which I don't do well at. And if could be sure that you're not actually a cat, I might come around. Chuckle, chuckle. There's some humor for you.

Same rule applies for you here, more than anyone else: When you know nothing, say nothing.

Do you know who the manufacturer for those was? Was it Matsumoku? How different are they in construction from the Aria Pro II PE180?

Mick having interacted with you for some time here, I have to say I didn't find your reply funny or helpful. There's a place for just keeping it to yourself. This board has long been heavy on solid information from well-informed participants, and you tend to add very little light in these discussions. The attitude conveyed in your words also is off-putting, at least to me. I tend to avoid threads where you are posting a lot, because I just don't want to put up with the static and noise, and yes, poorly executed humor.

Thank you, Lawson. That is or was all I was requesting with my OP--solid information and perspective, which always comes through on the JF, and I am grateful for it!

Mine is a Matsomoku, which I purchased from Darren on the JF months back. Prior post mentioned laminate top, but as I pointed out to you earlier, I also came across this:

Wow, talk about taking yourself waaaaay too seriously. There's a couple of people that I can see I need to avoid. People that use the phrase suffering fools have an overly developed sense of superiority that is generally false.

I am pretty new here and don't really know any of you, but this thread is making me wonder if I made a mistake in choice of forums.

Yes, you probably did. The Jungian psycho theory pages are on Quora or Reddit, This particular thread column and my OP was started in order to get information on a MIJ Emperor, which you clearly are not offering.

Are you referring to my first reply, to which the OP objected? - which was (verbatim): "There is no serial number on the label sticker, which states, "guarantee void if number is defaced."

It was a simple observation, the label itself is a bad joke (in case you're wondering, no, I did not design it).... actually more like a Zen koan: "How may one discern that an unseen number has been defaced?"

If you had followed that advice you would not have started this thread: initials after the model name on a label are commonly used to designate the color of the guitars finish.
