Is anyone familiar with this musical instrument dealer? Their prices are generally much lower than other sites but the descriptions of instruments listed are poor to nil and the photos are often slick looking.

P.S. - Actually, this appears to be a consortium of instrument stores so the service will vary.

It is a franchise based business. So I presume it’s separate retailers paying for licensing of the brand name.

..........A long time ago, I gave up trying to monitor their site on a regular basis, because they have an even more convoluted and tedious website than even GC, if that's possible.....
Just my experience, I guess.....

I've never bought an instrument from them, but I've been satisfied buying things like pedals. Given roughly equal prices I'd personally prefer them over, say, Guitar Center.

Just tried to bargain with one these stores recently. At least in my case they are set in stone with their advertised prices. After 6 months they lower it 10%. They were very courteous and quick to reply.

I've found some really good deals at Music-Go-Round. There is a store near Baltimore that I would occasionally stop in, just to see what they had. I was actually there a couple months ago when I was back visiting, and they were blasting early Def Leppard. Which is kinda how it should be when you walk into a music store, imho.

I briefly worked at one years ago. What's said above is all correct. They are independent franchises with each location individually owned. They are really just like a string of mom-and-pops that have banded together in that sense. Buying from them is directly supporting a small business owner. The parent company also runs a series of other chains with the same basic philosophy of buying and reselling used merchandise: Play it Again Sports, Plato's Closet, etc.
There are definitely some deals to be had on occasion.

Thank you all for your replies. I asked about a couple of instruments on the site and one reply was very thorough whereas the other dealer seemed to know next to nothing about the item he was selling, so obviously the quality of the dealers' products and service varies.
Um, probably not if you're looking for an archtop guitar.

I don't think it's a fixed list.

honestly, you never know what you will find. It's a used music equipment store and it all depends on what people bring in to sell. It's not just cheap stuff.
