My, oh my! Fantastic! Thanks for the pics!
-
By Jove, he's done it again!
I especially like the one with the P90. And what would the one with the block inlays be considered, a standard custom? Besides the blocks, I notice it also has F-hole binding.
-
Those sure do look nice.
-
A bunch of WesMo's. Can he deliver the chops to support such a guitar? I bet if Wes was here today, he would play a Campellone Cameo and everyone would be "Going Out Of My Head" over them.
-
Man, I need another Campellone
-
I noticed that the one with the P-90 doesn't have a full contact bridge base like a 175 ? What's up with that ?
-
Yes, Standard Custom. Here's another one with the same trim package, from 2020.

One of my customers who had a built-in pickup model told me that he switched from a full contact bridge base to the two footed type and got less feedback. I keep some two footed bridges in stock and occasionally use them for built-in pickup models.

I prefer ebony but rosewood looks sweet on a Campellone

Agreed, when you see a brace of guitars and one has that chocolatey rosewood board it immediately draws your eye. I'd love to get another with 1 or 2 humbuckers, like an L5, and the same sunburst as the one on Mark's homepage. Someday maybe lol

The only caveat(s) are the store requires a deposit once Mark starts building it and there may be sales tax depending on where you live (I unfortunately had to pay it).
I got on Mark's "store" list last December and he contacted me in July to say that I'll be in the next batch. He didn't initially tell me exactly how long that would be (I figured it might be 2-3 years) but I was pleasantly surprised to find it was only 8 months.

Mark will be 70 on the 29th of this month. If you can get one you will not only have one of the best guitars made but when he decides to retire it will skyrocket in value. A win-win.
-
I also like the lack of headstock inlay on the P90 one above.
-
As much as I hope he takes the day off, knowing the stories about Mark he'll probably be working on my guitar on his birthday. Maybe he can put a special commemorative birthday label on the inside!

Ya - and Gibson's lawyers would love it too.

In September 2022 I reached out to Mark to get on his wait list. At the time he told me his backlog was 3+ years but it would likely move faster as some on the list inevitably drop out for various reasons. Time goes by fast and at the beginning of February of this year I received notification I was in the March build slot.
So here we are today, latest batch of archtops complete including mine! They are all really beautiful instruments and Mark made working through the details a very enjoyable process.

I have a loose thistle inlay that needs a home, so Gibson's lawyers are welcome to call me.

Cameo #11 is now safely at home, and a Canadian citizen
. Here's a few (amateur) photos taken by yours truly. This is one really fine instrument - she sounds lovely with that Lollar low wind imperial through a Princeton reverb. I know what I'm doing tonight!

Isn't there a law about shipping artwork out of the country?
Just kidding, congratulations on a beautiful instrument and welcome to the Campellone club! Play it in good health, and play it a lot- they open up, especially if you put on the time! Or at least mine did, or maybe I'm under the illusion that it did!
Gorgeous sunburst as always from Mark, do you know what that finish is called?
-
I need my first one! Not happening, but it's nice to dream.
