I've always disliked the feel of the stock Ibanez pearloid buttons on the Gotoh tuners on my AF207. They taper in at the top, and they're rounded - so it's not as easy to fine tune with them as it is with buttons that are wider at the top and have well defined edges (for better grip and leverage). The keystone shape also fits my large fingers better, both for size and for shape. I discovered that WD sells many styles and materials for most tuning machines, so I ordered a set of their gold Keystone buttons and they just arrived.

These look and feel great, and tuning is a lot quicker and more precise. Best of all, they were $2.64 each and they're sold individually - so I could get 7 without having to buy 12. The same buttons for other brands are more expensive, e.g. Grovers are twice as much. These also fit the Gotohs on my Eastman arvchtops, but those use black screws with a standard slot, and the screw heads are bigger than the ones tha came on the Ibanez. So they don't go into the countersunk holes on the ends of the buttons. I'll have to check the screw thread size and pitch to see if I can get the gold ones that came in the Ibanez. If I can, I'll put these buttons on both of the Eastmans.

I put some of those (in black) on one of my guitars (replacing plastic ones), and it makes a noticeable difference. The dimensions are a little different, and they fit the fingers better and are easier to turn precisely. But I have to admit I like lowly, plain old Grover "kidney bean" buttons best (and dislike Grover Imperial buttons, even though they look cool).

Good on you. The "keystones" look much better too.

I like the OE look. But the keystone buttons are easier to grip and give me better fine tuning control, Jim.
